The INGO Problem
Join us on Monday 2nd December for a discussion on The INGO Problem – Power, Privilege and Renewal, by Deborah Doane. The central focus of this new book is on how International NGOs (INGOs) are acting as a barrier to shifting more power and resources to local civil society. It draws inspiration from the RINGO Project and the #ShiftThePower movement. In her book, Deborah relates stories from across the movement about experiences with INGOs and funders alike, and addresses what can be done to reset the INGO as an institution that is more solidaristic and supportive in its purpose.
Deborah will join us to discuss the main themes in the book and how it has been received so far, and there will be an opportunity to discuss how to take some of the ideas forward across the #ShiftThePower movement.
