Edge Conference Bogotá 2025
Critically examine the role of philanthropy in supporting systemic alternatives has been a key part of the EDGE’s work. Too often, funders have been part of the problem rather than the solution, moving funds at their whim and creating challenging grant making conditions that hinder the work of movements. EDGE believes one of its roles is to ensure that progressive grant makers and funders are held accountable to the movements they claim to serve.
For this reason, EDGE’s 2025 Conference will focus on funders’ accountability to movements fighting for justice and their tangible commitment to systemic change. This topic emerged as a critical issue during the 2023 Conference, when despite significant discussion and applause from funders, there was a noticeable lack of follow-up action and accountability on their promises and commitments. More recently, concerns have also been raised about funders withdrawing financial support due to political stances. Addressing these issues is essential to fostering genuine partnerships and effectively supporting systemic change efforts.
