Are you an INGO working to shift power? Are you a Country Office that is seeking independence? Our upcoming webinar will shine a spotlight on the transition from international to local ownership. We’ll be joined by Dr Hein Thet Ssoe (CEO, AGE Myanmar) and Bert Maerten (Head of Transformation, HelpAge International) for a candid conversation on the process of AGE Myanmar becoming a fully independent organisation.

In our previous mail, we incorrectly noted that AGE Myanmar was the first country office of HelpAge International to transition into a fully independent organisation, however there have also been similar transitions in Moldova, Tanzania, Jordan, Uganda and Lebanon. Some became national NGOs, whereas others transformed into different entities: platform, training centre, advocacy coalition, etc.

Don’t miss this opportunity to hear first-hand experiences of how an INGO can support local actors to build their own brand, identity, community and ways of working that make sense in their local context. Spoiler alert: this is complex work. With facilitation by Jimm Chick Fomunjong (WACSI), Dr Hein and Bert have promised to share the good, the bad and the ugly.

What are the opportunities and obstacles when shifting power in international civil society?
